Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapy helps people regain and build the skills that are important for health, well being, security and independence.
Occupational Therapists evaluate clients and design a program of activities and functional solutions to help the patient become as independent as possible. The Occupational Therapist also provides training and recommends adaptive devices to help clients perform activities of daily living such as dressing, bathing, cooking, eating and community living.
At BAMC, our Occupational Therapist provides treatment to a variety of outpatient’s problems. We specialize in the evaluation and treatment of upper extremity problems including the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand. We specialize in developing splints for various problems including arthritis, carpal tunnel and fractures of the wrist, hand and fingers. The Occupational Therapist uses many exercises to promote healing, reduce edema and to restore strength and range of motion of a body part. We also provide work-conditioning exercises to recondition an injured worker to return to work in a safe and effective manner.
Our Occupational Therapy Department is open from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Besides seeing patients in our outpatient department, our Occupational Therapist also provides care to inpatients and skilled nursing care patients.
