Pre-operative physical
You will need to have a physical prior to surgery. Your appointment will consist of an interview with your provider, a physical, lab work and other procedures as necessary to establish your health prior to surgery. It may take several hours to complete this process.
If your physical is at another facility, please inform your nurse that copies of your pre-op physical and labs (and EKG, if one is needed) need to be faxed to Baldwin Area Medical Center, Outpatient Services 715-684-3715.
Blood thinners/Pain relievers
Blood thinners and some pain relievers can cause bleeding problems during surgery. If you are taking blood thinners or pain relievers ask your primary doctor or surgeon if they will affect you surgery. Examples of these medications are: Aspirin, Coumadin/Warfarin, Plavix, Advil/Motrin.
Medications may need to be stopped or changed as far out as 10 days prior to surgery. If you are an AMS (Coumadin Clinic) patient please call the clinic at 684-8676.
